Hilda Series 3

The fantastic Netflix series Hilda is running into its final series. Based on the graphic novels of the same name, written by Luke Pearson, , the series follows the adventures of a fearless blue-haired girl. Set in a fantastical world resembling 20th century Scandinavia, the graphic novel draws much of its inspiration from Scandinavian folklore and another Scandi classic, Moomins.

In the series adaptation, we see Hilda, along with her mother Johanna and her deerfox Twig, move to the city of Trolberg after their home on the outskirts of the forest is destroyed by a giant. Originally airing back in 2018, the show is heading into its third and final season, picking up the story following the release of the film The Mountain King which serves as a setup for the final series. According to its creator, series 3 will feature a notable older Hilda and will be comprised of 13 episodes.

The series was previewed earlier in the year at the Ottowa International Animation Festival, during which, we were given an excellent synopsis of series 3.

“Hilda returns, eager to escape the bustling city of Trolberg for a refresh. She embarks on a train with Mum, Frida, David and of course her bold sense of adventure. In Tofoten, Hilda is encouraged to lean into the soft living of this sleepy town by her quirky Great Aunt Astrid – walks by the river, delicious baking, local shopping. But this quiet lifestyle is quickly interrupted when Hilda gets a whiff of something mysterious nearby: a Fairy Mound! Her curiosity leads to more than just an adventure and a new creature-y friend… But to an eerie landscape where danger lurks in the shadows. The third season will uncover truths never explored before in the series!”

The series will also feature several United Voices artists, such as Rasmus Hardiker, Miriam Margolyes, and Cory English. The final instalment will air this Friday, December 7th on Netflix UK. We would also like to mention the wonderful Peacock Sound Ltd, the incredible audio company who helped bring the series to life.
