Guy Martin's D-Day Landing, narrated by Shaun Dooley

Six hours before Allied troops stormed the beaches of Nazi-occupied France on 6th June 1944, thousands of paratroopers landed under cover of darkness to prepare teh way and limit the counter-attack. As he tells the story, Guy Martin helps restore their plane of choice, a Douglas C-47 Dakota, and undergoes tough training with the Red Devils parachute display team and the Parachute Regiment, before making his own big jump over Normandy.

There's also testimony from veterans now in their 90s: the 'pathfinder' Paras captured and interrogated by the SS aged 20 is a reminder of what D-Day heroes were made of.

Guy Martin's D-Day Landing airs Sunday 2nd June at 8pm on Channel 4, narrated by Shaun Dooley
